What happens after you create an Express Entry profile?

Creating an Express Entry profile is an early step in the process. It helps to understand what comes next before treating the profile as a permanent residence application.

Understand the system

Express Entry manages applications under the Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker Program and Federal Skilled Trades Program. Meeting a program’s requirements and ranking in the pool are separate questions.

From profile to application

Eligible candidates enter the pool through a profile. IRCC holds invitation rounds. If invited, a candidate then submits the permanent residence application for IRCC to review. A profile does not guarantee an invitation, and an invitation does not guarantee approval.

Prepare information you can support

Check your language-test details, education and work history against the evidence. Keep the records organized for a possible later application. A past invitation round or a score calculation cannot promise a future result. If your circumstances change, review the current instructions and make sure the information you are relying on remains accurate.
