If your application needs a medical exam, check the instructions before making an appointment. Your regular doctor may not be the right person for this exam.
Choose a panel physician
An immigration medical exam must be done by an IRCC-approved panel physician. Your usual doctor can do it only if they are on that list. Use the official list when choosing a clinic.
Check when to book
The instructions depend on the application and your circumstances. IRCC provides separate guidance for permanent residence and for visitors, students and workers. Read the section that applies to you, including when to complete the exam and what identification to bring.
Had an exam before?
Find the details of your earlier exam and check whether the current instructions allow it to be used. Do not assume it covers a new application automatically. Keep the paperwork you receive in a secure place with your application records. Medical information is personal; share it only with people who need it for the process.
