As India doesn’t allow dual citizenship, the first step after obtaining Canadian citizenship is to Surrender4 Indian citizenship. The cost of surrendering is around CAD $130 (Year 2023). You can only apply for the OCI status once you get the surrender certificate. OCI doesn’t come cheap. It is CAD $345 (Year 2023) per person. Stationary and postage is extra. Many a times the application is sent back due to minor errors, which make the process even more costlier.
